Frank Bird (Menswear)

Frank Bird, 13-17 Cross Square

"Although the Unique Wakefield drawings are a commercial project I am trying to draw the independent shops that occupy buildings with a bit of character about them. The building where Frank Bird Ltd resides definitely has that. The slate roof tops and the elaborate brick decoration for holding wooden guttering in place are wonderful examples of story book type textures. The wooden guttering may still be there, even with detail close ups from my camera I can't quiet make them out."

George Street, Wakefield

Dr Caleb Crowther Almhouse's, George Street
Monarch House, George Street

A couple of drawings made from my sketches, notes and photographs of a couple of grand looking buildings on George Street in Wakefield. They are part of a bigger page which incorporates writing and thoughts of standing around on a Wakefield street and they in turn are part of a bigger on going project I'm working on documenting the streets of Wakefield.

Drawn with dip pen and ink with watercolour applied over the top.
